OA-4: December 6th 21:44 GMT
The Astro Pi payload launched from Florida’s Cape Canaveral Air Force Base, on Orbital Sciences’ Cygnus cargo freighter, on December 6th 2015 at 21:44 GMT. Orbital Sciences contracted United Launch Alliance to conduct the mission using the Atlas V rocket. Watch the replay of the launch below.
An Atlas V rocket in the 401 configuration has successfully launched the unmanned Cygnus OA-4 spacecraft full of cargo for the International Space Station today, December 6th 2015 at 21:44 UTC. This return to flight mission since the Antares rocket failure in October 2014 carries an enhanced Cygnus spacecraft with a larger cargo volume and new solar arrays, The craft will arrive at the International Space Station on Wednesday.
The launch attempts on the 3rd, 4th, and 5th of December were scrubbed due to bad weather conditions.
Soyuz 45S: December 15th 11:03 GMT
British ESA astronaut Tim Peake, NASA astronaut Tim Kopra, and Russian cosmonaut Yuri Malenchenko launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan aboard the Russian Soyuz spacecraft on December 15th 2015 at 11:02:33 GMT. Watch the replay of the launch below.
A Soyuz-FG rocket has successfully lifted off from the Baikonur cosmodrome in Kazakhstan today at 11:03 UTC carrying the Soyuz TMA-19M spacecraft into orbit. The craft carried first time spaceflight flier British astronaut Tim Peake, Russian cosmonaut Yuri Malenchenko and NASA astronaut Tim Kopra.
